Heaven for my back

"My husband and I absolutely love this bed. We bought it about a month ago after I found out I had a herniated disk L3/4. I was in so much pain with awful muscle spams in my back, butt, and leg. At the time we were sleeping on a pillow top spring mattress. Every morning I'd wake up practically crippled. We made the decision to invest in our sleep instead of a fabulous vacation or something else. It was the best decision we every made. Yes, the mattress did smell some but we put the green apples out and jumped on the bed to help release the gases. The smell lingered for a few days. It's nothing awful like some of the reviews I've read. It does still have a faint odor after a month. I have fairly moderate allergies and it didn't bother me at all. The first week sleeping on it was certainly an adjustment. It's not bad just different. It did seem a little firmer than the floor model at first. I wasn't sure if it was my body adjusting or the bed needing time to break in but now it's fabulous!!! My muscle spasms stopped almost immediately. And I can sleep the whole night through with out tossing and turning. My husband loves it too. He could sleep on concrete and be comfortable but I cannot peel him out of bed now. I truly love this bed. It's worth every penny. "

Sleeps uncomfortably HOT

" After not being completely satisfied during the trial period we were convinced by a representative that we needed more time to adjust to this mattress. When we had complained about it being firmer than we had expected they said it would soften after sleeping on it awhile and if we exchanged it for a softer mattress we would be unhappy as it would soften too much. We have had this mattress for a few years and it still has not become noticeably softer. The main issue with this mattress is how HOT it sleeps. I have to almost turn the heat off before bed to be even slightly comfortable. My fiancé wakes up every morning covered in sweat because of this mattress. The pillows that came with the mattress are amazing and we can't sleep with anything else. So we basically overpaid for two nice pillows. Don't waste your money on the Rhapsody!"

Sleeps way too Hot!

"These mattresses are over rated and way over priced for what they are! While it is comfortable at first, in a couple of hours you will wake up on a mattress that is too hot to stay on. I thought it was me until I started a new relationship several months ago. My new partner also over heats on this mattress. While I am menopausal, my partner is a man and should not be having this issue. I have had this mattress for 1 1/2 years and have tried everything including turning the heat way down in my house and closing the heat vents in my bedroom. I will wake up at least twice in the night and have to get up and give the bed time to cool off before I get back in. I know it is the bed as I have been in regular beds at hotels and on a cruise ship and didn't have this problem. If you sleep hot DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A TEMPURPEDIC MATTRESS!"

Very disappointed

"After a year we feel we are sinking! Beware that these mattress's do soften but never expected that it would happen so soon. There is no contour or support unless u sleep in the middle ( we have a king) or the edges. It feels more like a hammock. Hopefully this is covered under the warranty and my situation is unusual. We are average size people that are now sleeping in the guest room. "

7 years and I'm still in love!

"My wife and I were going thru a mattress every 7 years until I took the plunge and bought our rhapsody, boy am I glad we did! Our bed is even more comfortable today than it was 7 years ago! I only looked at tempurpedic because of the warranty other wise I'm sure we would buying another new mattress this year. If someone were to offer to buy my bed from me I'd tell them they'd be better off buying a new one, that's how much it would take to get it from me. To this day my wife will get in bed at night and say " I love this bed" love being said really long. To me, the bed isn't too hot or hard, it's just right! "

I regret purchasing this mattress

"We were told originally the mattress would be too stiff. That wasn't the case, it was comfortable the first night. However gradually, in less than two years, it became soft and we formed indentations. We couldn't move around, all support was lost and we were unable to sleep through the night. We found the sofa and the floor more comfortable - at least that way we didn't wake up with sore backs and stiff muscles. The bed was always very difficult to move on, roll over or get up from,the mattress seems to suck me in. To change position it is necessary to sit up and move ones body instead of just rolling over. FYI, I weight 125 lb and my husband is 165, this doesn't seem like it ought to be too much weight for a queen size bed to handle without breaking down. The customer service is great, the company sent a replacement set but in a week or two the replacement was as uncomfortable and pocketed as the original mattress. I feel we spent a great deal of money for a product that clearly doesn't work for us. We could have used the same money to buyer another type of mattress and keep replacing it every couple of years - and probably had better rest. I am thoroughly disappointed with this purchase. We also bought the symphony pillows since normal pillows don't work with this type of mattress. The pillows are extremely heavy, too large and hard as a rock. It seems to me the reputation surpasses the actually product. "

this mattress is HOT

"My initial review was published Feb. 24, 2012. This mattress is hot. In summer, my thermostat is set at 76. A light cotton nightie and a sheet were almost too much. I often awoke perspiring. Now that it is cool again, I still can't wear more than light cotton, but have added a 2d sheet. House temp is 71. When I bought this, there wasn't an option of "rhapsody breeze." Had I known, I would not have bought this. Comfortable, yes, as far as support. But who want to wake up seating in the middle of the night?"

Sleeping on a Hammock

"Except for being hot the Rhapsody was ok at first, but after four months it started to sag so much that it was like sleeping on a hammock. I would wake about every two hours with back pain and it would take a while before I could go back to sleep. In the morning I awoke with severe back pain and I was tired from lack of sleep. I weigh 160 lbs so it could not have been excess weight on the bed causing the sagging. Temper-pedic replaced the bed with another Rhapsody and as before it was ok at first then it begin to sag like the previous one. I think I should note that I did not have a back problem before sleeping on the Rhapsody bed. I contacted Temper-Pedic Customer Service again and they offered to replace the Rhapsody with a lower priced bed at no charge or I pay the difference on a higher priced model. I returned to Bed-Mart where I purchased the bed to try other models before making a decision. A different sales rep was there this time. He said that heat buildup and sagging is common with Temper-Pedic beds and he suggested that I try to sell the $3,500 Rhapsody on Craig's List for a $1,000 and buy a Simmons foam bed that he assured me did not have the heat build up and sagging problem because Simmons uses an advanced foam. I was not ready to be a sucker again so my wife and I tried all the Temper-Pedic beds on display. She prefered the Allura, but I was not willing to risk the additional money the Allura cost. We selected the Contour Signature even though she found it too soft. The price on it is $600 less than the Rhapsody so I have already wasted $600. "

Thankfull, great exchange service.

"We were drawn to Tempur-Pedic by their great reputation and 3 weeks ago took delivery of the RhapsodyBed. Although the bed offers support, we have found the mattress far too firm, despite walking on it, to try to wear it in. I wake up after a disturbed night's sleep and my wife is waking with lower back ache. For the past 3 weeks, I have taken to napping in the evenings, to make up for not achieving deep sleep during the previous night. Normally, I do not nap. The bed is clearly great quality, but not right for us. We returned to the retailer, Mattress X-press and their help could not have been better. After 2 return trips and spending a total of an hour trying out other models, we settled on the Cloud Luxe. As a reference, to help others, I weigh 205 lbs and my wife weighs 130 lbs. Although dissappointed with the mattress, the whole Tempur Pedic deal and the great retailer has not made this an issue for us."

Highly Recommend!

"My husband thought I had lost my mind spending this much on a bed! I have fibromyalgia so he said if it helps lets get one. Best decision I've made in a long time! I was nervous about the smell I had read about and the phone operator told me about. Almost was non-existent. Not a problem at all. I got the Rhapsody instead of the Cloud because my husband is big (6'2" 250lb) and I thought having a little firmness would be good. He loves it. I am 5'2" 150lbs and it is a little firm for me but I was told it would "break-in" in a few weeks, even still I sleep FANTASTIC. I do not get hot at all. I agree that either you love or hate a temper-pedic. Some of my other family members think I am crazy. I LOVE it! I wake up with no pain and actually refreshed. Hope this review helps. If you are on the fence, just take the plunge and get one."

Save your money

"I bought the Rhapsody mattress and base 14 months ago. I can not believe I threw away over 3,500.00 on a mattress. My sleep quality has not improved and I blieve that this mattress is way overpriced. My dad and sister own one and talked me into getting one. I have noticed the side I sleep on is starting to dent in and I have had it only a year. The salesman told me that this mattress disperses heat away from the body but I feel that they hold in the heat and most nights I wake up overheated. My mom just bought a 12 inch memory foam mattress off of Walmart for 400.00 and I am blown away at the comfort. I WOULD RECOMMEND TO GIVE THAT ONE A TRY BEFORE YOU INVEST THIS MUCH MONEY IN A MATTRESS! I am very dissapointed and this has to be my biggest regret of a purchase ever in my life. "

No more aches & pains

"I've owned this bed for approx. 2 months now...and I can't say enough good things about it...however, I will comment on a couple things I've observed/noticed since owning the bed...first, when I wake up in the morning, I don't suffer from joint pain/aches in my legs, back, neck as much any longer. I literally can jump out of bed and don't have the usual aches and pains that I used to experience with a traditional bed..second, when I do fall asleep I sometimes wake-up in the middle of the night and have that feeling like I've been asleep forever (hope that makes sense)..needless to say, that's a great feeling..:)..and finally I really like the way this bed conforms to your shape, and I do not feel it is any hotter than my old mattress, in fact I feel like the bed's conforming to you is probably what leads to less aches and pains...I whole-heartedly recommend the Rhapsody!!"

King Rhapsody for Fibromyalgia

"I bought my bed in 2007 after suffering for years with a Simmons Beauty Rest pillow top mattress. Every morning I would wake up in severe pain with every pressure point screaming at me in addition to a severe backache. The first year I was in love with my bed but then I noticed there were grooves where my husband and I slept and a hump between us, but after a call to customer service within days, literally I had a brand new 'COMPLETE' bed. They didn't just replace my mattress, they replaced the foundation as well. I still love this bed and with severe fibromyalgia I can sleep on either side or my back again and not be bothered with pressure point pain from the mattress. I also bought the pillows and now cannot sleep without mine. If I travel, it goes with me! It is a little hot and so is the mattress but I can deal with it, it doesn't seem to be a problem during the winter. It's expensive, but worth every penny. Your body will thank you!"

Not worth the price

"The CSR at mattersess Firm recommeded this for my back ache & me being a side sleeper & hubby being a straight sleeper. I can feel every move he makes. It is so hot now it is summer he has started sleeping in the guest bedroom. I have constant pain when I wake up.Really not worth the pain I am going thru...but after paying $4000 just in december 2011 not able to budget for a new bed again. Wish I could return OR replace for something else. "

Love love love love this bed!

"We have only had this bed for 1 week now and while they say to give it a month I already love this bed. My back would hurt so bad that I would not be able to stand up straight and the amount of medications I was taking was unbelievable. All I can say now is WOW!!! no longer taking any advil or muscle relaxers, my husband and I are both sleeping through the night and we no longer wake each other up when we move around. People said the smell of the bed bugged them but honestly while we have noticed it but it does not really bug us at all and it has not caused us the sore throat and/or headache issues people talked about, but everyone is different in that degree. All I can do now is totally 200% recommended any temperpedic product (including the pillows and sheets) to everyone who asks about them!! "

Not comfortable

"After 2 months of sleeping on the Rhapsody set, my husband & I are not sleeping and are very uncomfortable on the Temper-pedic mattress. It is not conforming as we were led to believe & it has a hard feeling. My body is stiff & sore after laying in the bed all night. It is difficult to change positions & takes a few minutes for the form to reshape. We are in the midst of working with our retailer to return it. They are saying that is will cost $300 to send it back. We are to keep the foundation and the mattress pad. After spending $3,520; I would expect to sleep on a cloud. Temper-pedic is saying that the return policy is the retailers and the retailer is saying it is Temper-pedics policy. There is nothing in our paperwork about returning it; although they advertise a 90 night satisfaction quite obviously. Right now, I am very dissatisfied with our Temper-pedic Rhapsody set & with the customer service that we are receiving from Comforts of Home in Marion, IN. I will certainly update if changes are made & satisfaction is made complete. Think twice about buying a bed for over $3000 that you can't return!"

Can't move at night

"This was great when we first got it. After about two months, the thing sucked you in so that it was difficult to move and hard to get out of the bed in the morning. We went to do our exchange and the sales person recommended the Cloud Supreme. He told us that the Rhapsody has highly conforming material on the top and that is what was making it difficult for us to move at night. So far, we love the Cloud Supreme. It is soft on the top, supposedly good for side sleepers, but provides great support. We are both side sleepers and find this bed much more comfortable than the Rhapsody. Although the "sleeping warm"part really didn't bother us that much, we find that the Cloud does not feel as hot at night. In addition, both of us were used to firm mattresses and thought that was what we needed for proper support. Although soft, the Cloud offers proper support without waking up with numb arms and hip pain. One thing that was really disappointing that we were not told about during our initial purchase is that, although Temprupedic offers a 90 day exchange policy, they charge you $299 restocking fee if you exchange the original mattress. Would have been nice to know this from the beginning."

Good purchase

"My wife and I had our King Rhapsody for one month now, and we absolutely love this bed. By far the most comfortable bed either my wife, or I have ever experienced. Best sleep we have ever had! When it’s time for bed, we have a phrase; Time to be Tempurrized! Oh by the way, the Rhapsody Pillows makes it all the more enjoyable for the perfect night sleep."

Loved it for the first year

" We purchase the Tempur-pedic in Jan of 2008. Was great. Then it started to sag May 2010. Back pain, Leg pain and hip. Doctor sent me for MRI all was fine. He suggested I sleep on another bed. One night on the other bed no pain. So I called Tempur-Pedic and sure enough they said it needed to be replaced based on the Picture of the mattress I sent them. New one came all was good. Jan 2012 hip pain returns. May 2012 sent new pictures to them and they said needs to be replaced again. Said I will have the new one in 14 days. No option to get my money back to buy another type of mattress. They told me I just happen to have received a defective one. I find it hard to believe that during these 4 years I received 2 that were defective. I guess in Jan of 2014 we will know. "

not really worth the cost

"For a week, I slept on the double-sized mattress at my friend's house and it was very comfortable, I absolutely loved it. However, the cost is way too high. I have a knock-off mattress, same size and depth, that is as comfortable and only cost $300. If it doesn't last as long as this expensive mattress, so what? I could buy a brand new one every year for $300. Also, my friend's mattress is showing signs of wear, not as comforting as it was when new, and her mattress is only 3 years old. It's a great product, but knock-offs are as good. "
