Upon unwrapping this mattress from the plastic covering after it was delivered, the stench of it filled my entire house. It was an incredibly strong, sickly sweet smell and needless to say I could not sleep on it for weeks, even after letting it air out. After some research online it appears that this mattress emits very toxic chemicals that are harmful to our health. The polyurethane foam emits isocyanates and a host of formaldehydes that you will breathe in when you sleep on memory foam. I bought this item on clearance and cannot return it and cannot sleep on it. I basically purchased a $3300 nauseating gas mat that I know will give me health problems if I use it. Word of caution: Buy regular spring mattresses or better yet, organic, to avoid these chemicals. Also, there was absolutely no smell to the mattress in the store when we tested the bed. But apparently after being made in the factory, the bed is placed in plastic wrap and isn't allowed to sit out and off-gas. So if you buy this bed, prepare for months of it off-gassing in your home and most likely a host a health problems. Also, do NOT buy on clearance as the 90 day return policy would have helped me get back the $3300 I spent on this poisonous bed.
Reg Rhapsody was fantastic for the first 5 months, except that I was sleeping very warm (But no back pains like I had with the Simmons Black series). Customer Service were kind enough to warranty the bed due to the imprint issue. I paid the upgrade fee for the Breeze hoping to resolve the sleeping warm issue. However, the Breeze tech doesn't make a difference. Like the other reviewers, after about 15 mins, the gel layer and mattress cover warm to the same degree as the regular Rhapsody. Customer service warrantied out the Breeze, but the 2nd Breeze has the same issue. Unless I'm super unlucky, I think the Breeze technology is ineffective. 4 stars for comfort because the bed is very comfortable - just not super comfortable for the very warm sleeper. Mind you, I live in Seattle and the room temp rarely exceeds 60 degrees at night. I sleep under a light comforter - without it I'd be too cold! The foam material simply offers too much insulation. Not sure how they'll get around that issue.
The Rhapsody Breeze is not only extremely comfortable but truly keeps the overly hot bodies cool while sleeping! No more shoulder and back pain upon waking, which is priceless!
This mattress is a waste of money. It is hard as a rock, smells horrible, and the worse part is the return process. Tempurpedic is the most unprofessional business. The company lost my return claim for three weeks and then called to tell me they put me in a pile and forgot about me. After three weeks of calling and being promised a return phone call within24-48 hours I never received such a thing. I'd much rather recommend Simmons. Honestly buying a Tempurpedic was the worse decision I have ever made and I will never recommend any products.
I have been sleeping on the TEMPUR-Rhapsody Breeze for about a month and it absolutely does not function as advertised. I bought it from The Healthy Back Store and have not had a full night's sleep, or even a good night's sleep, since it was delivered. It does not sleep cool - it's an INFERNO! I absolutely hate it. It starts out cool, but within 15-20 minutes it begins to heat up and the area I'm sleeping on becomes intolerably hot. I wake up multiple times each night because I'm too hot to sleep and I have to search for another cool spot to sleep on. However, my body heat seems to get trapped within the surface of the mattress and as the night wears on cool spots become increasingly difficult to find. I want my old mattress back! At least with it, I slept soundly through the night. Now I'm too hot to sleep. I was really looking forward to receiving this mattress but sadly it's a hot mess. I called Tempurpedic to see if perhaps I received a defective mattress, since it does not seem to function as advertised. The customer service rep merely read the website hype to me and said they have received no complaints and that I should return the mattress if I didn't want it. He was, however, unable to help me discern if my mattress is defective and was, therefore, of no assistance whatsoever.
I have been thru 7 mattresses in the past 2 years and all were defective. I've slept on every bed in the store and finally decided to try the tempurpedic phapsody breeze. All the other mattresses were very hot and I would actually sweat and sleep without blankets. I've been sleeping only 2 nights on this mattress and I have to say I think I hit the jackpot. I sleep great...I wake up feeling better with less back pains and most importantly I am not pouring sweat all night. Thusfar I love it!!
We purchased a king Rhapsody Breeze set to replace our 10 year old Tempur-Pedic king set one month ago. We purchased this set because of its promises of keeping you cooler while you slept. Not so. We find the Rhapsody Breeze to be just as hot-sleeping as our old set. Really disappointed about this new feature. It will feel cool at first touch, but after only a minute or so it is hot.
The mattress itself is fine, but don't waste your money on this model if you are looking for "a cooler sleeping" bed.
My wife and I previously owned an original mattress factory latex foam bed. We loved it for a couple of years and then it went soft and we rolled into each other every night. Trying to rectify that issue we spent the $5,000 for this bed and figured it would be a better built, firmer mattress with more than a two year longevity. Well it's built like a rock, and seems that will never change. We were told to walk and crawl on the bed to "break it in" so I let my two toddlers jump on it with us every day for a couple weeks. No change. We wake up feeling sore, and like idiots for paying to feel this way. That's just the start, you'd think jumping would loosen it up, if that didn't work then the sweat from my body every night surely would do the trick! NOPE. "BREEZE" they say... We had a latex foam which was hot but didn't have any advertisements suggesting otherwise. This bed is far, far hotter than the last one. We live in Florida and we set the AC to 69 when we sleep, after being hot all day the cool house feels great, until you sleep on the surface of the sun with this bed. We sent it back and have ordered the iSerta prodigy set. Much better reviews, half the price. Excited to get rid of this boulder, get $2600 back, an extra 5 years of warranty, and get some dang sleep.
