Senior Merchant

Job Description:

The Senior Merchant will drive Tempur- Pedic’s North American Direct Response channel to profitable, rapid, and sustainable growth by delivering consumer relevant, market-leading product assortment that delivers on strategic financial and business objectives. The successful incumbent will establish, embed, and continually optimize across the organization retail (Direct To Consumer) merchandising and inventory management best-practices.

Essential Duties:

•Deliver the TPNA Direct channel annual financial and operating plans
•Develop quarterly assortment plans that maximize flow, turn, GMROI, and brand equity.
•Execute quarterly plans based on marketplace insights (Marco economic, industry, wholesale retail, DR selling trends and data etc)
•Conduct accurate and actionable analysis of quarterly performance including product success/failure, margin attainment, seasonal metrics, and DR selling KPIs for digital and call center channels
•Develop inventory management and replenishment strategy tailored to DR selling cadence and seasonality and work with planning and allocation to execute; collaborate with demand and inventory planning groups to implement strong DR planning practices into company’s overall planning and inventory management approaches.
•Work with marketing and DR channel leaders to create an assortment that translates brand values and consumer wants/needs into tangible products for a “best of Tempur-Pedic” offering to the breadth of DR consumers.
•Identify unfulfilled category opportunities e.g.(customization; optimal pillow assortment; sleep enhancers; travel; office; kids.) and apply TPNA business strategy, market intelligence, and consumer insight filters to prioritize development of related products and drive significant demand
•Represent the Direct Response POV throughout the Go-To-Market process and collaborate with cross-channel partners to execute TPNA’s Direct channel vision
•Collaborate with marketing and DR teams to define seasonal product messages, merchandising POV, and marketing promotions that hit revenue and profit targets.
•Deliver seasonal merchant POV and key product message to TPNA President, to cross-functional stakeholders (, DR Channel heads, planning, CS, call center supervisors) and to key agency partners quarterly.
•Help define merchandising related tools and process (reporting, site visual merchandising, analysis, etc)

Experience & Other Requirements:

Education:
BS/BA Degree in Business or Merchandising

Experience:
Minimum 8-10 years of retail merchandising experience in durable goods (preferably in a luxury or premium brand), with at least 3 years in a senior merchant position. eCommerce and Call Center experience required.. Excellent financial planning/forecasting skills and background required.
Knowledge, Skills, &Abilities:
•Proven performance in fast-paced, entrepreneurial retail environments, with proven ability to build organizational merchandising capability, processes, and tools
•Strong project management, data management, product, and planning skills are required; adept at managing multiple projects/seasons at once
•Strong working knowledge of financial measurements and analytical skills and ability to analyze business results and implement any strategies or tactics required to optimize/correct business performance.
•Ability to establish and build productive relationships, both internal and external.
•Ability to communicate effectively inside and outside the organization
•Attention to detail, and strong follow-up is required
•Strong computer skills (MS Office: especially Excel ; planning,, allocation, and reporting tools).. Ability to learn and master new merchandising and reporting tools
•Personal traits desired: strong interpersonal skills, team oriented, energetic, organized, self-directed, tenaciously drives for success
