Job Title:
Mechanical Project Engineer—Tempur Production, Duffield, VA
Job Description:
Mechanical Project Engineer drives cost improvement projects in all areas of manufacturing. The projects will focus primarily on modifications to our product line including materials and equipment used in manufacturing. The role will also focus heavily on manufacturing tolerances and product analysis.
Essential Duties:
Manages projects that drive cost reductions and/or product improvements in production and sees them through to completion
Uses statistical process control for continuous optimization of manufacturing processes to drive variability out of product
Drives continuous improvement activities and new supplier qualification
Implements solid data collection and analysis tools for continuous improvement
Assists with transitions of new products from R & D to production
Experience & Other Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent is required. A candidate with five or more years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
